Parents and carers

Working in partnership

From the moment students start at the Academy there will be consistent and rigorously enforced expectations of how they conduct themselves, learn and flourish as young citizens. A parents handbook will explain the Academy’s policies and the parents’ and carers’ roles in supporting their child and helping uphold standards in areas such as uniform, attendance and punctuality.

The Academy operates a Parents’ Council so that you can have a say in want you want from the new Academy – for example the new uniform

The Academy will encourage you to get regular information on your child’s performance and will communicate regularly via the Academy website, newsletters and other means to keep you informed about what is happening in Academy life

Primary School Links

The Academy will continue to work with staff at its primary partner schools to ensure students have a smooth transition to ‘life at the big school’. Together we will ensure that the move from primary school is a positive and happy experience.

Admissions

The Academy’s admission arrangements are the same as those for all local secondary schools within Brighton and Hove. There will be no form of testing to get a place and all students who attend Falmer High School can transfer to the Academy if their parents wish.

Information on admissions can be obtained from the Schools Admissions Team at Brighton & Hove Council:

Telephone 01273 293653, email schooladmissions@brighton-hove.gov.uk or visit the Council’s web site www.brighton-hove.gov.uk and type school admission into the search box. Remamber the deadline for admissions for September 2010 is 23 October 2009.
